Memories of summer… 2 weeks ago, a pink lemonade style shoot I had put together was featured on 100 Layer Cake! Thank you for the feature and write-up!
Even though our summer this year was rather short and not as hot as it normally is, I was eager to do an outdoor shoot and take advantage of the warm weather and great lighting while I could. With that in mind, I came up with a pink lemonade theme as the focal point for my inspiration. Having seen many rustic lemonade ideas, I chose to go to the other end of the spectrum… I wanted to it to be bold, fun, vibrant and colourful.
I teamed up with Sandy Tam of Sandy Tam Photography knowing her ability to capture natural moments filled with beautiful lighting, I knew she would bring out my vision the way I envisioned it.
The colour palette was based on blush pink, lemon yellow and pops of fuchsia. Coquette Studios did an amazing job with the florals, she didn’t disappoint! Her florals were the perfect tie into the rest of decor going on. With chevron still being a fun trend these days, hints of this bold chevron print was used in the decor, wedding cake and stationery design.
To throw a bit of summery fun into the shoot, we invited Sweet Ice Snow Cones to join us and provide us some pink lemonade snow cones for our bride and groom models. Le Dolci designed a beautiful wedding cake that suited our theme and incorporate the chevron print, the rest of the dessert table was filled with mini donuts and cupcakes.
Of course, we needed to have our own lemonade stand filled with fresh pink and lemon lemonade, that was used as a refreshments for the guests.
While planning and designing this shoot, I always knew I wanted it to take place in a open field, and we found the perfect random spot in north of downtown Toronto in Markham with fields of Queen Anne’s lace flowers behind us, I couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect.
Here are some highlights from our shoot, and if you haven’t already checked out our feature on 100 Layer Cake, don’t miss it!
